Poland beats Switzerland 5-4 in shootout

Poland turned into the main team to achieve the European Championship quarterfinals by beating Switzerland 5-4 in a penalty shootout.

Grzegorz Krychowiak scored Poland’s triumphant penalty not long after Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka missed wide on his team’s second shot.

Amid control time, Jakub Blaszczykowski gave Poland the first in the 39th moment when he sent a low shot between the legs of Switzerland goalkeeper Yann Sommer. Xherden Shaqiri balanced with a bike kick in the 82nd, hopping with his back to the net before sending a left-footed shot inside the post from close to the edge of the zone.

In additional time, substitute Eren Derdiyok verged on scoring for the Swiss in the 113th when his header was thumped wide by Poland goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.
